So apparently the new Ubuntu changed something about how the keys are read and in the new dosbox that resulted in the arrow keys not working. The solution is simple enough, I just edited the config file and in the section marked [sdl] (near the top) and changed "usecancodes=true" to "usecancodes=false".
I had hoped that this new fix would miraculously let me zoom in Syndicate Wars now. I was unfortunately wrong. However, it made me dig a little deeper, and I found that the zoom level is apparently tied to the weapon the agents are using. At least someone said that on the abandonia forums. I'll have to test it out myself here soon.
